The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Acts 10:34-43

34 Then Peter opened his mouth and said, "In truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons, 35 but in every nation he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted by Him. 36 The Word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all) -- 37 that Word, I say, ye know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem -- He whom they hanged on a tree and slew. 40 Him God raised up the third day and showed Him openly, 41 not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead. 42 And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be the Judge of the quick and dead. 43 To Him all the prophets bear witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins."

Psalm 118

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good,
for His mercy endureth for ever!
2 Let Israel now say that His mercy endureth for ever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say
that His mercy endureth for ever.
4 Let them that fear the LORD now say
that His mercy endureth for ever.

5 I called upon the LORD in distress;
the LORD answered me,
and set me in an ample place.
6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do unto me?
7 The LORD taketh my part among them that help me;
therefore shall I see what I desire
upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put
confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put
confidence in princes.

10 All the nations compassed me about,
but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about, yea, they compassed
me about;
but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees,
they are quenched as the fire of thorns;
for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.

13 Thou hast thrust sorely at me that I might fall,
but the LORD helped me.
14 The LORD is my strength and song,
and has become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles
of the righteous;
the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted;
the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live
and declare the works of the LORD.
18 The LORD hath chastened me sorely,
but He hath not given me over unto death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD-
20 this gate of the LORD, into which the righteous
shall enter.
21 I will praise Thee,
for Thou hast heard me and art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders refused
has become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the LORD'S doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech Thee, O LORD;
O LORD, I beseech Thee, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD!
We have blessed you from the house of the LORD.
27 God is the LORD, who hath shown us light;
bind the sacrifice with cords,
even unto the horns of the altar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise Thee;
Thou art my God, I will exalt Thee.

29 O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good;
for His mercy endureth for ever!

Colossians 3:1-11

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth at the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory. 5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience, 7 in which ye also once walked, when ye lived in them. 8 But now ye also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him, 11 where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free, but Christ is all and in all.

Words of Worship - 1 Corinthians 5:7b-8

For even Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

John 20:1-9

1 On the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher and saw the stone taken away from the sepulcher. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said unto them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid Him!" 3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.

4 And they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came first to the sepulcher. 5 And stooping down and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he went not in. 6 Then came Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher and saw the linen cloths as they lay 7 and the napkin that had been about His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who came first to the sepulcher, went in also; and he saw, and believed. 9 For as yet they knew not the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiastes 8:12-13

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and his days be prolonged,
yet surely I know that it shall be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him.
But it shall not be well with the wicked; neither shall he prolong his days,
which are as a shadow, because he feareth not before God.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Luke 12:6-7

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
