The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Acts 3:11-26

11 And as the lame man who had been healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch, which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering. 12 And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, "Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified His Son Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you, 15 and killed the Prince of Life whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know. Yea, the faith which is by Him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 "And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers. 18 But those things which God before had shown by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He hath thus fulfilled. 19 Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20 Then He shall send Jesus Christ, who before was preached unto you, 21 whom Heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began. 22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, `A Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you from your brethren, like unto me; Him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever He shall say unto you. 23 And it shall come to pass that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be destroyed from among the people.' 24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25 Ye are the children of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, `And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.' 26 Unto you first, God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you in turning every one of you away from his iniquities."

Psalm 8

1 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth,
who hast set Thy glory above the heavens!
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies,
that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers,
the moon and the stars which Thou hast ordained,
4 what is man that Thou art mindful of him,
and the son of man that Thou dost visit him?
5 For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels,
and hast crowned him with glory and honor.
6 Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands;
Thou hast put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field,
8 the fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth!

Words of Worship - Psalm 118:24

This is the day which the LORD hath made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Luke 24:36-53

36 And as they thus spoke, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them and said unto them,

"Peace be unto you."

37 But they were terrified and afraid, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said unto them,

"Why are ye troubled, and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see Me to have."

40 And when He had thus spoken, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, He said unto them,

"Have ye here any meat?"

42 And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and of a honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate before them. 44 And He said unto them,

"These are the words which I spoke unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and in the Prophets and in the Psalms concerning Me."

45 Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, 46 and said unto them,

"Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. 49 And behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you; but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high."

50 And He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was parted from them and carried up into Heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God.

Amen.
