The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Acts 13:13-25
13 Now when Paul and his company cast loose from Paphos, they came to Perga
in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem. 14 But when
they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the
synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. 15 And after the reading from the Law
and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, "Ye
men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say
on."
16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said: "Men of Israel
and ye that fear God, give audience! 17 The God of this people of Israel chose
our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of
Egypt, and with uplifted arm He brought them out of it. 18 And for about forty
years, He suffered their ways in the wilderness. 19 And when He had destroyed
seven nations in the land of Canaan, He divided their land among them by lot. 20
And after that, He gave unto them judges for about the space of four hundred and
fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. 21 And afterward they desired a king, and
God gave unto them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the
space of forty years. 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up unto them
David to be their king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, `I have found
David the son of Jesse, a man after Mine own heart, who shall fulfill all My
will.' 23 Of this man's seed hath God, according to His promise, raised unto
Israel a Savior, Jesus. 24 John had first preached, before His coming, the
baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was fulfilling
his course, he said, `Whom think ye that I am? I am not He. But behold, there
cometh One after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.'
Psalm 89:1-26
1 I will sing of the mercies of
the LORD for ever;
with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness
to all generations.
2 For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up
for ever;
Thy faithfulness shalt Thou establish in the very
heavens."
3 "I have made a covenant
with My chosen,
I have sworn unto David My servant:
4 'Thy Seed will I establish for ever,
and build up thy throne to all
generations.'"
5 And the heavens shall praise
Thy wonders, O LORD,
Thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the
saints.
6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the
LORD?
Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened
unto the LORD?
7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of
the saints,
and to be held in reverence by all them that are
about Him.
8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a
strong LORD like unto Thee?
Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?
9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea;
when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them.
10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that
is slain;
Thou hast scattered Thine enemies with Thy strong
arm.
11 The heavens are Thine, the earth also is
Thine;
as for the world and the fullness thereof, Thou
hast founded them.
12 The north and the south, Thou hast created
them;
Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in Thy name.
13 Thou hast a mighty arm;
strong is Thy hand, and high is Thy right hand.
14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy
throne;
mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.
15 Blessed is the people that
know the joyful sound!
They shall walk, O LORD, in the light of Thy
countenance.
16 In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day,
and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
17 For Thou art the glory of their strength,
and in Thy favor our horn shall be exalted.
18 For the LORD is our defense,
and the Holy One of Israel is our King.
19 Then Thou didst speak in a
vision to Thy holy one and said, "I have
laid help upon one that is mighty;
I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
20 I have found David My servant;
with My holy oil have I anointed him.
21 With him My hand shall be established;
Mine arm shall also strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not exact from him,
nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face,
and plague them that hate him.
24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,
and in My name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand also over the sea,
and his right hand over the rivers.
26 He shall cry unto Me, `Thou art my Father,
my God, and the rock of my salvation.'
Words of Worship - Revelation
1:5
and
from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the
dead, and the prince over the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own
blood,
John 13:12-20
12 So after He had washed their feet and had taken His
garments and had sat down again, He said unto them,
"Know ye what I
have done to you? 13 Ye call Me Master and Lord; and ye say well, for
so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet, ye
also ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have given you an
example, that ye should do as I have done to you. 16 Verily, verily I
say unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord, neither he
that is sent greater than he that sent him. 17 If ye know these
things, happy are ye if ye do them.
18 "I speak not of you
all. I know whom I have chosen; but that the
Scripture may be fulfilled, `He that eateth bread
with Me hath lifted up his heel against Me.' 19 Now I
tell you before it come that, when it is come to
pass, ye may believe that I am He. 20 Verily, verily
I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send,
receiveth Me; and he that receiveth Me, receiveth Him
that sent Me."
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 15:16-17
Better is little with the fear of the LORD,
than great treasure and trouble therewith.
Better is a dinner of herbs where love is,
than a fattened ox and hatred therewith.

Morals & Values - Luke 6:44b
(see

For from thorns men do not
gather figs, nor from a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man
out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is
good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth
forth that which is evil; for of the abundance of his heart his
mouth speaketh.
