The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Genesis 17:1-7

1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram and said unto him, "I am the Almighty God. Walk before Me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly." 3 And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying, 4 "As for Me, behold, My covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.

Psalm 105:1-11

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name;
make known His deeds among the people.
2 Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him;
talk ye of all His wondrous works.
3 Glory ye in His holy name;
let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
4 Seek the LORD and His strength;
seek His face evermore.
5 Remember His marvelous works that He hath done,
His wonders and the judgments of His mouth,
6 O ye seed of Abraham, His servant,
ye children of Jacob, His chosen.

7 He is the LORD our God;
His judgments are over all the earth.
8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever,
the word which He commanded to a thousand generations,
9 which covenant He made with Abraham,
and His oath unto Isaac,
10 and confirmed the same unto Jacob as a law,
and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, "Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan,
the lot of your inheritance,"

Words of Worship - Psalm 95:7c-8a

Today, if ye will hear His voice:
"Harden not your heart as in the provocation,

John 8:48-59

48 Then the Jews answered and said unto Him, "Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a devil?" 49 Jesus answered,

"I have not a devil, but I honor My Father, and ye do dishonor Me. 50 And I seek not Mine own glory; there is One that seeketh and judgeth. 51 Verily, verily I say unto you, if a man keep My saying, he shall never see death."

52 Then said the Jews unto Him, "Now we know that thou hast a devil! Abraham is dead and the prophets; and thou sayest, `If a man keep my saying he shall never taste of death.' 53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom makest thou thyself?" 54 Jesus answered,

"If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father that honoreth Me, of whom ye say that He is your God. 55 Yet ye have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I should say, `I know Him not,' I shall be a liar like unto you. But I know Him and keep His saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day; and He saw it and was glad."

57 Then said the Jews unto Him, "Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?" 58 Jesus said unto them,

"Verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am!"

59 Then they took up stones to cast at Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 16:6

In the congregation of the ungodly shall a fire be kindled,
and in a rebellious nation wrath is set on fire.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Luke 11:35-36

Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light."
