The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Acts 16:11-15

11 Therefore casting loose from Troas we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day Neapolis, 12 and from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony. And we stayed in that city a number of days. 13 And on the Sabbath, we went out of the city by a riverside where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down and spoke unto the women who resorted thither. 14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God, heard us; and the Lord opened her heart to give heed unto the things which were spoken by Paul. 15 And when she was baptized with her household, she besought us, saying, "If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and abide there." And she constrained us.

Psalm 149

1 Praise ye the LORD!
Sing unto the LORD a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints!

2 Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him;
let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3 Let them praise His name in the dance;
let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the meek with salvation.
5 Let the saints be joyful in glory;
let them sing aloud upon their beds.
6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
and a twoedged sword in their hand
7 to execute vengeance upon the heathen,
and punishments upon the people;
8 to bind their kings with chains,
and their nobles with fetters of iron;
9 to execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all His saints.
Praise ye the LORD!

Words of Worship - John 15:26b-27a

even the Spirit of Truth who proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me. And ye also shall bear witness,

John 15:26-27

26 "But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth who proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me. 27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with Me from the beginning.

John 16:1-4

1 "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not lose faith. 2 They shall put you out of the synagogues; yea, the time cometh that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. 3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me. 4 But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them.

"And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiastes 9:9-10

Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity,
which He hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity;
for that is thy portion in this life,
and in thy labor which thou hast done under the sun.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might,
for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave whither thou goest.

The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when thine eye is single, thy
whole body also is full of light. But when thine eye is evil, thy body also is
full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not
darkness.
