The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Acts 5:27-33

27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, "Did not we strictly command you that ye should not teach in this name? And behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man's blood upon us." 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are His witnesses of these things, and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to those who obey Him."

33 When they heard this, they were cut to the heart and took counsel to slay them.

Psalm 34:11-22

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 What man is he that desireth life,
and loveth many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep thy tongue from evil,
and thy lips from speaking guile.
14 Depart from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous,
and His ears are open unto their cry.
16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth,
and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart,
and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
20 He keepeth all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked,
and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of His servants,
and none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate.

Words of Worship - John 20:29

"Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they that have not seen and yet have believed."

John 3:22-36

22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He tarried with them, and baptized. 23 And John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized, 24 for John had not yet been cast into prison.

25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. 26 And they came unto John and said unto him, "Rabbi, He that was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou bearest witness -- behold, the same baptizeth and all men come to Him." 27 John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from Heaven. 28 Ye yourselves bear me witness that I said, `I am not the Christ,' but that `I am sent before Him.' 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy, therefore, is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

31 "He that cometh from above is above all; he that is of the earth is earthly and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from Heaven is above all. 32 And what He hath seen and heard, to that He testifieth, and no man receiveth His testimony. 33 He that hath received His testimony hath set his seal to this: that God is true. 34 For He whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God, for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him. 35 The Father loveth the Son and hath given all things into His hand. 36 He that believeth in the Son hath everlasting life; and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him."

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 14:20

Blessed is the man that doth meditate good things in wisdom,
and that reasoneth about holy things by his understanding.

And He spoke also a parable unto them:

"No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; otherwise, both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.
