The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Jeremiah 20:10-13

10 For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side.
"Report," say they, "and we will report it!"
All in my company watched for my halting, saying, "Perhaps he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him;
and we shall take our revenge on him."
11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty, fearsome one;
therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail.
They shall be greatly ashamed, for they shall not prosper;
their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 But, O LORD of hosts, who triest the righteous and seest the reins and the heart,
let me see Thy vengeance on them, for unto Thee have I opened my cause.
13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD;
for He hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.

Psalm 18:1-6

1 I will love Thee, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death encompassed me,
and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about;
the snares of death lay before me.
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD
and cried unto my God;
He heard my voice out of His temple,
and my cry came before Him, even unto His ears.

Words of Worship - John 6:63c, 68c

The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Thou hast the words of eternal life,

John 10:31-42

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them,

"Many good works have I shown you from My Father. For which of those works do ye stone Me?"

33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy and because thou, being a man, makest thyself God." 34 Jesus answered them,

"Is it not written in your law, `I said "Ye are gods"'? 35 If He called them gods unto whom the Word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), 36 do ye say of Him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world, `Thou blasphemest,' because I said, `I am the Son of God'? 37 If I do not the works of My Father, believe Me not. 38 But if I do, though ye believe not Me, believe the works, that ye may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."

39 Therefore they sought again to take Him, but He escaped out of their hand, 40 and went away again beyond the Jordan into the place where John had first baptized; and there He abode. 41 And many resorted unto Him and said that John did no miracle, but all things that John spoke of this Man were true. 42 And many believed in Him there.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiastes 7:13

Consider the work of God; for who can make straight that which He hath made crooked?

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Luke 11:39-41

And the Lord said unto him,

"Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter, but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. Ye fools! Did not He that made that which is without, make that which is within also? But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and behold, all things are clean unto you.
