from the The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons 1 Kings 19:9-13a 9 And he came thither unto a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said unto him, "What doest thou here, Elijah?" 10 And he said, "I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword. And I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." 11 And He said, "Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD." And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. 13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Psalm 85
Romans 9:1-5 1 I speak the truth in Christ -- I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost-- 2 that I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for the sake of my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh, 4 who are Israelites and to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; 5 of whom are the fathers, and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. Words of Worship - Psalm 130:5
Matthew 14:22-36 22 And straightway Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a boat and to go before Him unto the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. 23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up onto a mountain apart to pray. And when evening had come, He was there alone. 24 But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It is a spirit"; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying,
28 And Peter answered Him and said, "Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water." 29 And He said,
And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, "Lord, save me!" 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said unto him,
32 And when they had come into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, "In truth Thou art the Son of God." 34 And when they had gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place learned of Him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto Him all who were diseased. 36 And they besought Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched were made perfectly whole. Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 24:3-4
