The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Ezekiel 9:1-7

1 He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, "Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand." 2 And behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn by his side. And they went in and stood beside the brazen altar.

3 And the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn by his side; 4 and the LORD said unto him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men who sigh and who cry because of all the abominations that are done in the midst thereof."

5 And to the others He said in mine hearing, "Go ye after him through the city and smite. Let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity. 6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids and little children and women; but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." Then they began with the elder men who were before the house. 7 And He said unto them, "Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go ye forth." And they went forth and slew in the city.

Ezekiel 10:18-22

18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubims. 19 And the cherubims lifted up their wings and mounted up from the earth in my sight. When they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD'S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over above them.

20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the River of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubims. 21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings, and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. 22 And the likeness of their faces was the same as the faces which I saw by the River of Chebar, their appearances and themselves. They went every one straight forward.

Psalm 113

1 Praise ye the LORD! Praise, O ye servants of the LORD;
praise the name of the LORD!
2 Blessed be the name of the LORD
from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the LORD'S name is to be praised.
4 The LORD is high above all nations, and His glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the LORD our God who dwelleth on high,
6 who humbleth Himself to behold the things that are in heaven and on the earth?
7 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill,
8 that He may set him with princes, even with the princes of His people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.
Praise ye the LORD!

Words of Worship - 2 Corinthians 5:19

to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and hath committed unto us the Word of reconciliation.

Matthew 18:15-20

15 "Moreover, if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone. If he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that `in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.' 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church; but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; and so whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.

19 "Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth concerning anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in Heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 24:17-18

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth,
and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth,
lest the LORD see it and it displease Him,
and He turn away His wrath from him.

And He said unto them,

"What man shall there be among you that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will not lay hold on it and lift it out? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days."
