The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Isaiah 66:18-21

18 "For I know their works and their thoughts. It shall come that I will gather all nations and tongues, and they shall come and see My glory. 19 And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those of them who escape unto the nations: to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud who draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off who have not heard My fame, neither have seen My glory; and they shall declare My glory among the Gentiles. 20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations, upon horses and in chariots and in litters, and upon mules and upon swift beasts, to My holy mountain Jerusalem," saith the LORD, "as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. 21 And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites," saith the LORD.

Psalm 117

1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations!
Praise Him, all ye people!
2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever.
Praise ye the LORD!

Hebrews 12:5-13

5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children:

"My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord,
nor faint when thou art rebuked by Him;
6 for whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth,
and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth."

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then ye are bastards and not sons. 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh who corrected us, and we gave them reverence. Shall we not far rather be in subjection unto the Father of Spirits, and live? 10 For verily they chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous; nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those who are exercised thereby.

12 Therefore, lift up the hands which hang down and the feeble knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.

Words of Worship - John 14:6b

"I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

Luke 13:22-30

22 And He went through the cities and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23 Then said one unto Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said unto them,

24 "Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in and shall not be able. 25 When once the master of the house is risen up and hath shut the door, and ye begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, `Lord, Lord, open unto us,' and He shall answer and say unto you, `I know you not from whence ye are,' 26 then shall ye begin to say, `We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets.' 27 But He shall say, `I tell you, I know you not from whence ye are. Depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity.' 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth when ye shall see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29 And they shall come from the east and from the west, and from the north and from the south, and shall sit down in the Kingdom of God. 30 And behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 24:28

Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause,
and deceive not with thy lips.

"O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
