The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Isaiah 22:19-23

19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

20 "And it shall come to pass in that day that I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah. 21 And I will clothe him with thy robe and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. 22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open and none shall shut, and he shall shut and none shall open. 23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place, and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house. 24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups even to all the vessels of flagons. 25 In that day," saith the LORD of hosts, "shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed and be cut down and fall, and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for the LORD hath spoken it."

Psalm 138

1 I will praise Thee with my whole heart;
before the gods will I sing praise unto Thee.
2 I will worship toward Thy holy temple, and praise Thy name for Thy lovingkindness and for Thy truth,
for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.
3 In the day when I cried, Thou answered me,
and strengthened me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise Thee, O LORD,
when they hear the words of Thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall sing of the ways of the LORD,
for great is the glory of the LORD.
6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath He respect unto the lowly,
but the proud He knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
Thou wilt revive me;
Thou shalt stretch forth Thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies,
and Thy right hand shall save me.

8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me;
Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever; forsake not the works of Thine own hands.

Romans 11:33-36

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!

34 "For who hath known the mind of the Lord?
Or who hath been His counselor?"

35 Or,

"who hath first given to Him,
and it shall be recompensed unto him again?"

36 For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things, to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Words of Worship - Matthew 16:18b

thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:13-20

13 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying,

"Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?"

14 And they said, "Some say that Thou art John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He said unto them,

"But who say ye that I am?"

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him,

"Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but My Father who is in Heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven."

20 Then He charged His disciples that they should tell no man that He was Jesus the Christ.

Words of Wisdom - Wisdom of Solomon 13:10

But miserable are they, and in dead things is their hope, who called them gods which are the works of men's hands, gold and silver, artfully wrought, and resemblances of beasts or a stone good for nothing, the work of an ancient hand.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 15:18-20

(see UniversalJesusSpeaks.info for more information)

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: these are the things which defile a man. But to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man."
