The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

2 Thessalonians 1

1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy,

Unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Grace unto you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth, 4 so that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all persecutions and tribulations that ye endure, 5 which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer. 6 For it is a righteous thing with God to recompense with tribulation those who trouble you; 7 and to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He shall come on that Day to be glorified in His saints and to be admired in all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

11 Therefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, 12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 96

1 O sing unto the LORD a new song;
sing unto the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the LORD, bless His name;
show forth His salvation from day to day.
3 Declare His glory among the heathen,
His wonders among all people.
4 For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols,
but the LORD made the heavens.
6 Honor and majesty are before Him;
strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people;
give unto the LORD glory and strength.
8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name;
bring an offering, and come into His courts.
9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness;
fear before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the heathen
that the LORD reigneth;
the world also shall be established, that it shall not be moved;
He shall judge the people righteously.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.
12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein;
then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
13 before the LORD.
For He cometh, for He cometh to judge the earth;
He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth.

Words of Worship - John 10:27

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me.

Matthew 23:13-22

13 "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the Kingdom of Heaven against men, for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers; therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

15 "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

16 "Woe unto you, ye blind guides, who say, `Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.' 17 Ye fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? 18 And ye say, `Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is liable.' 19 Ye fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? 20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it and by all things thereon. 21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it and by Him that dwelleth therein. 22 And he that shall swear by Heaven, sweareth by the throne of God and by Him that sitteth thereon.

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 25:17

Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbor's house,
lest he be weary of thee and so come to hate thee.

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, "Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?" And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them, and said,

"Verily I say unto you, unless ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
