The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
1 Corinthians 1:1-16
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and
Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in
Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call upon the
name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3 Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus
Christ.
4 I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which is given
you by Jesus Christ; 5 that in every thing ye are enriched by Him, in all
utterance and in all knowledge, 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed
in you, 7 so that ye fall behind in no gift, waiting for the coming of our Lord
Jesus Christ. 8 He shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless
in the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called
unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye
all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye
be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For
it hath been reported unto me about you, my brethren, by those who are of the
house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now this I say, when
every one of you saith, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos,"
and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ": 13 Is Christ divided?
Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank
God that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest any should say
that I had baptized in mine own name. 16 And I baptized also the household of
Stephanas. Besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
Psalm 145:1-9
1 I will extol Thee, my God, O King;
and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless Thee,
and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised,
and His greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise Thy works to another,
and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty,
and of Thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy fearsome acts,
and I will declare Thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness,
and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious and full of compassion,
slow to anger and of great mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all,
and His tender mercies are over all His works.
Words of Worship - Matthew 24:42a, 44
"Watch
therefore,
for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of
Man cometh.
Matthew 24:42-51
42 "Watch
therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this,
that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come,
he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of
Man cometh.
45 "Who then is a
faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household,
to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord,
when he cometh, shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, that he shall
make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant shall say in
his heart, `My lord delayeth his coming,' 49 and shall begin to smite his
fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken, 50 the lord of that
servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that
he is not aware of, 51 and shall cut him asunder and appoint him his portion
with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 25:11
A word fitly spoken
is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Another parable spoke He unto them:
"The Kingdom of
Heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of
meal till the whole was leavened."
