from the The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons 1 Corinthians 2:1-9 1 And I, brethren, when I came to you declaring unto you the testimony of God, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not stand on the wisdom of man, but on the power of God. 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are perfect, yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, who are coming to nought. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the world for our glory -- 8 wisdom which none of the princes of this world knew; for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. 9 But as it is written:

24 And He said,
28 Then all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him unto the brow of a hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong. 30 But He, passing through the midst of them, went His way. Words of Wisdom - Wisdom of Solomon 14:12-14 For the devising of idols was the beginning of spiritual fornication, and the invention of them the corruption of life. For neither were they from the beginning, neither shall they be for ever. For by the vainglory of men they entered into the world, and therefore shall they come shortly to an end. Jesus Speaks
