The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

1 Corinthians 2:10-16

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so no man knoweth the things of God, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God. 13 These things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged by no man. 16 "For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

Psalm 145:1-9

1 I will extol Thee, my God, O King;
and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless Thee,
and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised,
and His greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise Thy works to another,
and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honor of Thy majesty,
and of Thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy fearsome acts,
and I will declare Thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness,
and shall sing of Thy righteousness.

8 The LORD is gracious and full of compassion,
slow to anger and of great mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all,
and His tender mercies are over all His works.

Words of Worship - Luke 7:16b

"A great prophet is risen up among us"; and, "God hath visited His people."

Luke 4:31-37

31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at His doctrine, for His word was with power. 33 And in the synagogue there was a man, who had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with Thee, Thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art Thou come to destroy us? I know Thee and who Thou art -- the Holy One of God!" 35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying,

"Hold thy peace, and come out of him!"

And when the devil had thrown him in their midst, he came out of him and hurt him not. 36 And they were all amazed, and spoke among themselves, saying, "What a word is this! For with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out." 37 And His fame went out into every place in the country round about.

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 25:21-22

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat;
and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink;
for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head,
and the LORD shall reward thee.

And He called the multitude and said unto them,

"Hear and understand: Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man, but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

And Jesus said,

"Are ye also yet without understanding? Do ye not yet understand that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the drain?
