The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

1 John 1:1-4

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life 2 (for the Life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that Eternal Life, which was with the Father and was manifested unto us); 3 that which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

Psalm 97

1 The LORD reigneth, let the earth rejoice!
Let the multitude of isles be glad thereof!
2 Clouds and darkness are round about Him;
righteousness and judgment are the habitation of His throne.
3 A fire goeth before Him,
and burneth up His enemies round about.
4 His lightnings enlightened the world;
 the earth saw and trembled.
5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD,
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

6 The heavens declare His righteousness,
and all the people see His glory.
7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols.
Worship Him, all ye gods!

8 Zion heard and was glad,
and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of Thy judgments, O LORD.
9 For Thou, LORD, art high above all the earth;
Thou art exalted far above all gods.

10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil!
He preserveth the souls of His saints; He delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous,
and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous,
and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.

John 20:1-10

1 On the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher and saw the stone taken away from the sepulcher. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said unto them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid Him!" 3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.

4 And they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came first to the sepulcher. 5 And stooping down and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he went not in. 6 Then came Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher and saw the linen cloths as they lay 7 and the napkin that had been about His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who came first to the sepulcher, went in also; and he saw, and believed. 9 For as yet they knew not the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.

Words of Wisdom - 1 Samuel 2:30b

`Be it far from Me; for them that honor Me I will honor, and they that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 6:1-2

"Take heed that ye do not your almsgiving before men, to be seen by them; otherwise ye have no reward from your Father who is in Heaven. Therefore when thou givest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.
