The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Deuteronomy 30:15-20
15 "See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death
and evil, 16 in that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to
walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His
judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply; and the LORD thy God shall bless
thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. 17 But if thine heart
turn away so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away and worship other
gods and serve them, 18 I declare unto you this day that ye shall surely
perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land whither thou
passest over the Jordan to go to possess it. 19 I call heaven and earth to
record this day against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing
and cursing. Therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live, 20 that
thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and that
thou mayest cleave unto Him; for He is thy life and the length of thy days, that
thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham,
to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them."
Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel
of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful;
2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on His law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that
bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall
prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous,
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Words of Worship - Matthew 4:17
"Repent, for the Kingdom of
Heaven is at hand."
Luke 9:18-27
18 And it came to pass as He was alone praying, His disciples
were with Him, and He asked them, saying,
"Who say the people that I
am?"
19 They answering said, "John the Baptist; but some say
Elijah, and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again." 20 He
said to them,
"But who say ye that I
am?"
Peter answering said, "The Christ of God!" 21 And He
strictly charged them and commanded them to tell no man this thing, 22 saying,
"The Son of Man must suffer
many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes,
and be slain and be raised the third day."
23 And He said to them all,
"If any man will come after
Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For
whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life
for My sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged if he
gain the whole world, and lose himself or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall
be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed when
He shall come in His own glory and in His Father's and of the holy angels. 27
But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here that shall not taste of
death till they see the Kingdom of God."
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 11:14
Where no counsel is, the people fall;
but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

"Behold,
a sower went forth to sow. And when he sowed, some
seeds fell by the wayside; and the fowls came and
devoured them up. Some fell upon stony places where
they had not much earth; and forthwith they sprang
up, because they had no deepness of earth. And when
the sun was up they were scorched, and because they
had no root they withered away. And some fell among
thorns; and the thorns sprang up and choked them.
But others fell into good ground and brought forth
fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some
thirtyfold. Who hath ears to hear, let him
hear."
