The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

2 Samuel 5:1-10

1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron and spoke, saying, "Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh. 2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel; and the LORD said to thee, `Thou shalt feed My people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.'" 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron; and King David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.

4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. 5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke unto David, saying, "Unless thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither," thinking, "David cannot come in hither." 7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (the same is the City of David). 8 And David said on that day, "Whosoever getteth up through the gutter and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, who are hated in David's soul, he shall be chief and captain." Therefore they said, "The blind and the lame shall not come into the house." 9 So David dwelt in the fortress, and called it the City of David. And David built round about from the Millo and inward. 10 And David went on and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

Psalm 89:20-26

20 I have found David My servant;
with My holy oil have I anointed him.
21 With him My hand shall be established;
Mine arm shall also strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not exact from him,
nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face,
and plague them that hate him.
24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,
and in My name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand also over the sea,
and his right hand over the rivers.
26 He shall cry unto Me, 'Thou art my Father,
my God, and the rock of my salvation.'

Words of Worship - 2 Timothy 1:10

but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death and hath brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.

Mark 3:22-30

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils." 23 And He called them unto Him, and said unto them in parables,

"How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house and despoil his goods, unless he will first bind the strong man; and then he will despoil his house.

28 "Verily I say unto you, all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men and blasphemies, however they shall blaspheme; 29 but he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation";

30 because they said, "He hath an unclean spirit."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 10:28

And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him that is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
