The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Isaiah 42:1-9
1 "Behold My Servant, whom I
uphold,
Mine Elect, in whom My soul delighteth:
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry, nor lift up,
nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall He not break, and the
smoking flax shall He not quench;
He shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till He
hath set judgment in the earth;
and the isles shall wait for His law."
5 Thus saith God the LORD--He
that created the heavens and stretched them out,
He that spread forth the earth
and that which cometh out of it,
He that giveth breath unto the people upon it,
and spirit to them that walk therein:
6 "I, the LORD, have called Thee in
righteousness, and will hold Thine hand, and will
keep Thee,
and give Thee for a covenant of the people, for a
light of the Gentiles;
7 to open the blind eyes, to bring out the
prisoners from the prison,
and them that sit in darkness out of the prison
house.
8 I am the LORD; that is My name.
And My glory will I not give to another, neither
My praise to graven images.
9 "Behold, the former things
are come to pass, and new things do I declare;
before they spring forth I tell you of
them."
Psalm 29
1 Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty;
give unto the LORD glory and strength.
2 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters;
the God of glory thundereth; the LORD is upon many waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars;
yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf,
Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.
7 The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
8 The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the
Wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and layeth bare
the forests,
and in His temple doth every one speak of His glory.
10 The LORD sitteth over the flood;
yea, the LORD sitteth as King for ever.
11 The LORD will give strength unto His people;
the LORD will bless His people with peace.
Words of Worship - John 1:29
The next day John saw Jesus coming unto him, and
said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the
world!
Mark 1:1-11
1 The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
2 As it is written in the Prophets:
"Behold, I send My messenger before Thy face,
who shall prepare Thy way before Thee."
3 "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: `Prepare ye the way of
the Lord,
make His paths straight.'"
4 John baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of
repentance for the remission of sins. 5 And there went out unto him all the land
of Judea and those of Jerusalem; and they were all baptized by him in the River
Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camel's hair and with
a girdle of a skin about his loins, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And he
preached, saying, "There cometh after me One mightier than I, the strap of
whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized
you with water, but He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost."
9 And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from
Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 And straightway
coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a
dove descending upon Him. 11 And there came a voice from Heaven, saying,
"THOU ART MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED."
Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 4:10
Be as a father unto the fatherless,
and in the stead of a husband unto their mother;
so shalt thou be as the son of the Most High,
and He shall love thee more than thy mother doth.

Morals & Values - Matthew 7:12
Therefore,
all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even
so to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.
