from the The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons Amos 7:7-17 7 Thus He showed me: And behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand. 8 And the LORD said unto me, "Amos, what seest thou?" And I said, "A plumb line." Then said the Lord,
10 Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, "Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words. 11 For thus Amos saith, `Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.'" 12 Also Amaziah said unto Amos, "O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread and prophesy there. 13 But prophesy not again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the king's court." 14 Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, "I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman and a gatherer of sycamore fruit. 15 And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, `Go, prophesy unto My people Israel.' 16 Now therefore, hear thou the word of the LORD. Thou sayest, `Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.' 17 Therefore thus saith the LORD: `Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword; and thy land shall be divided by line, and thou shalt die in a polluted land. And Israel shall surely go into captivity forth from his land.'" Psalm 19
Words of Worship - 2 Corinthians 5:19 to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them, and hath committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. Matthew 9:1-8 1 And He entered into a boat, and passed over and came into His own city. 2 And behold, they brought to Him a man sick with the palsy, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said unto the one sick with the palsy,
3 And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, "This man blasphemeth." 4 And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said,
(then said He to the one sick with palsy)
7 And he arose and departed to his house. 8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power unto men. Words of Wisdom - Jeremiah 32:38-40 And they shall be My people, and I will be their God; and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me for ever, for the good of them and of their children after them. And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from Me. Jesus Speaks
