The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Hosea 14
1 O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God,
for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.
2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD;
say unto Him, "Take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, so
will we offer the calves of our lips.
3 Assyria shall not save us;
we will not ride upon horses,
neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, `Ye are our gods';
for in Thee the fatherless findeth mercy."
4 "I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely,
for Mine anger is turned away from him.
5 I will be as the dew unto Israel;
he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
6 His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree,
and his smell as Lebanon.
7 They that dwell under his shadow shall return. They shall revive as the
corn and grow as the vine;
the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.
8 Ephraim shall say, 'What have I to do any more with idols?'
I have heard him, and observed him;
I am like a green fir tree.
From Me is thy fruit found."
9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent, and he shall
know them?
For the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the
transgressors shall fall therein.
Psalm 51
1 Have mercy upon me, O God,
according to Thy lovingkindness;
according unto the multitude of Thy tender
mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned and done
this evil in Thy sight,
that Thou mightest be justified when Thou
speakest, and be clear when Thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shaped in
iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in my inward parts;
in the hidden part Thou shalt make me to know
wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness,
that the bones which Thou hast broken may
rejoice.
9 Hide Thy face from my sins,
and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O
God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from Thy presence,
and take not Thy holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation,
and uphold me with Thy free Spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways,
and sinners shall be converted unto Thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou
God of my salvation,
and my tongue shall sing aloud of Thy
righteousness.
15 O Lord, open Thou my lips,
and my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.
16 For Thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I
give it;
Thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt
not despise.
18 Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion;
build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of
righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
then shall they offer bullocks upon Thine altar.
Words of Worship - John 16:13a, 14:26d
However when He, the
Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth;
and bring all things
to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Matthew 10:16-23
16 "Behold, I send you
forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye
therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17
But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to
the councils, and they will scourge you in their
synagogues, 18 and ye shall be brought before
governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony
against them and the Gentiles. 19 But when they
deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall
speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour
what ye shall speak. 20 For it is not ye that speak,
but the Spirit of your Father who speaketh in you. 21
And the brother shall deliver up the brother to
death, and the father the child; and the children
shall rise up against their parents and cause them to
be put to death. 22 And ye shall be hated by all men
for My name's sake, but he that endureth to the end
shall be saved. 23 But when they persecute you in
this city, flee ye into another; for verily I say
unto you, ye shall not have gone through the cities
of Israel till the Son of Man be come.
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 22:15
Foolishness is bound into the heart of a child,
but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

But when thou givest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy
right hand doeth, that thine almsgiving may be in secret; and thy Father who
seeth in secret, Himself shall reward thee openly.
