The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Micah 7:14-20

14 Rule Thy people with Thy rod, the flock of Thine heritage, who dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel;
let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.

15 "As in the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt,
will I show unto them marvelous things."
16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might;
they shall lay their hand upon their mouth; their ears shall be deaf.
17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent;
they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth.
They shall be afraid of the LORD our God,
and shall fear because of Thee.

18 Who is a God like unto Thee, who pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He retaineth not His anger for ever,
because He delighteth in mercy.
19 He will turn again;
He will have compassion upon us;
He will subdue our iniquities.
And Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.
20 Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob
and the mercy to Abraham,
which Thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.

Psalm 85

1 LORD, Thou hast been favorable unto Thy land;
Thou hast released the captives of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of Thy people;
Thou hast covered all their sin.

3 Thou hast taken away all Thy wrath;
Thou hast turned Thyself from the fierceness of Thine anger.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation,
and cause Thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt Thou be angry with us for ever?
Wilt Thou draw out Thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt Thou not revive us again,
that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?
7 Show us Thy mercy, O LORD,
and grant us Thy salvation.

8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak,
for He will speak peace unto His people and to His saints; but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him,
that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good,
and our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him,
and shall set us in the way of His steps.

John 20:1-2,  11-18

1 On the first day of the week came Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher and saw the stone taken away from the sepulcher. 2 Then she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said unto them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid Him!"

11 But Mary stood outside at the sepulcher weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the sepulcher, 12 and saw two angels in white, sitting one at the head and the other at the feet where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they said unto her, "Woman, why weepest thou?" She said unto them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid Him." 14 And when she had thus said, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said unto her,

"Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou?"

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said unto Him, "Sir, if thou have borne Him hence, tell me where thou hast laid Him, and I will take Him away." 16 Jesus said unto her,

"Mary!"

She turned herself and said unto Him, "Rabboni!" (which is to say, "Master"). 17 Jesus said unto her,

"Touch Me not, for I am not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say unto them, 'I ascend unto My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.'"

18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things unto her.

Words of Wisdom - Wisdom of Solomon 6:18-20

And love is the keeping of her laws,
and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption;
and incorruption maketh us near unto God.
Therefore the desire for wisdom bringeth to a kingdom.

"Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
