The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Jeremiah 3:11-19
11 And the LORD said unto me, "The backsliding
Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah. 12 Go and
proclaim these words toward the north, and say:
"`Return, thou backsliding Israel,' saith the
LORD,
`and I will not cause Mine anger to fall upon you;
for I am merciful,' saith the LORD,
`and I will not keep anger for ever.
13 Only acknowledge thine iniquity:
that thou hast transgressed against the LORD thy God,
and hast scattered thy ways to the strangers under every green tree,
and ye have not obeyed My voice,' saith the LORD.
14 `Turn, O backsliding children,' saith the LORD, `for I am married
unto you;
and I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I
will bring you to Zion.
15 And I will give you pastors according to Mine heart,
who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.'
16 "And it shall come to pass when ye be multiplied
and increased in the land, in those days," saith the LORD,
"they shall say no more, `The ark of the covenant of the LORD.'
Neither shall it come to mind, neither shall they remember it; neither
shall they visit it, neither shall that be done any more. 17 At that
time they shall call Jerusalem the Throne of the LORD, and all the
nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to
Jerusalem; neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of
their evil heart. 18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with
the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the
north to the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your
fathers. 19 "But I said, `How shall I put thee among the children
and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of
nations?' And I said, `Thou shalt call Me "My Father," and
shalt not turn away from Me.'
Jeremiah 31:10-14
10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it
in the isles afar off, and say,
`He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him as a shepherd
doth his flock.'
11 For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob,
and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and
shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD--
for wheat and for wine and for oil, and for the young of the flock and
of the herd;
and their soul shall be as a watered garden,
and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and
old together;
for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them and make
them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness,
and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness," saith the LORD.
Words of Worship - Luke 8:15
But that on the good
ground are they that, in an honest and good heart, having heard the
Word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.
Matthew 13:18-23
18 "Hear
ye therefore the parable of the sower: 19 When any
one heareth the Word of the Kingdom and understandeth
it not, then cometh the wicked one and catcheth away
that which was sown in his heart. This is he that
received seed by the wayside. 20 But he that received
the seed into stony places, the same is he that
heareth the Word and at once with joy receiveth it;
21 yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for
a while. For when tribulation or persecution ariseth
because of the Word, by and by he loses faith. 22 He
also that received the seed among the thorns is he
that heareth the Word; and the cares of this world
and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and
he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed
into the good ground is he that heareth the Word and
understandeth it; who also beareth fruit and bringeth
forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some
thirty."
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 22:29
Seest thou a man diligent in his business?
He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before men of low estate.

"Lay not up for
yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves
treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and
where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your
treasure is, there will your heart be also.
