The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Jeremiah 7:1-11
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying: 2 "Stand
in the gate of the LORD'S house, and proclaim there this word and say, `Hear the
word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, who enter in at these gates to worship the
LORD! 3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways
and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4 Trust ye
not in lying words, saying, "The temple of the LORD, the temple of the
LORD, the temple of the LORD are these." 5 For if ye thoroughly amend
your ways and your doings, if ye thoroughly execute judgment between a man and
his neighbor, 6 if ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the
widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods
to your hurt, 7 then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land
that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.
8 "`Behold, ye trust in lying words that cannot
profit. 9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely,
and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not, 10 and
come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say,
"We are delivered" -- to do all these abominations? 11 Has this
house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold,
even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
Psalm 84
1 How amiable are Thy tabernacles,
O LORD of hosts!
2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3 Yea, the sparrow hath found a house,
and the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young"
even Thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house;
they will be ever praising Thee.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in Thee,
in whose heart are Thy ways,
6 who passing through the Valley of Baca makes it a well;
the rain also filleth the pools.
7 They go from strength to strength;
every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer;
give ear, O God of Jacob.
9 Behold, O God our shield,
and look upon the face of Thine anointed.
10 For a day in Thy courts
is better than a thousand; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the
house of my God,
than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace
and glory;
no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 O LORD of hosts,
blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee!
Words of Worship - James 1:21b
receive with meekness the engrafted Word,
which is able to save your souls.
Matthew 13:24-30
24 Another parable put
He forth before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is likened unto a
man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came
and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blades had
sprung up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the
servants of the householder came and said unto him, `Sir, didst not thou sow
good seed in thy field? From whence then hath come the tares?' 28 He said unto
them, `An enemy hath done this.' The servants said unto him, `Wilt thou then
have us go and gather them up?' 29 But he said, `Nay, lest while ye gather up
the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together
until the harvest, and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers,
"Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn
them, but gather the wheat into my barn."'"
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 23:9
Speak not to the ears of a fool,
for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

"Ask, and it shall
be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened
unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it
shall be opened.
