The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Leviticus 23:1-11, 15-16, 27-37

1 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, 2 "Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them: `Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are My feasts.

3 "`Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, a holy convocation. Ye shall do no work therein; it is the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

4 "`These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. 5 On the fourteenth day of the first month at evening is the LORD'S Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto the LORD; seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 7 On the first day ye shall have a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days. On the seventh day is a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work therein.'"

9 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, 10 "Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them: `When ye come into the land which I give unto you and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest. 11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD to be accepted for you; on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

15 "`And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete. 16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days, and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

27 "Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 28 And ye shall do no work in that same day, for it is a Day of Atonement to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. 29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. 30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. 31 Ye shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening unto evening, shall ye celebrate your sabbath."

33 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying, 34 "Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, `The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. 35 On the first day shall be a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work therein. 36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. On the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you, and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. It is a solemn assembly, and ye shall do no servile work therein.

37 "`These are the feasts of the LORD which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering and a meat offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, every thing upon his day"

Psalm 81

1 Sing aloud unto God our strength;
make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel,
the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3 Blow the trumpet in the new moon,
at the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
4 For this was a statute for Israel,
and a law of the God of Jacob.
5 This He ordained in Joseph as a testimony, when He went out through the land of Egypt,
where I heard a language that I understood not:
6 "I removed his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were delivered from the pots.
7 Thou called in trouble, and I delivered thee;
I answered thee in the secret place of thunder. I tested thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah
8 Hear, O My people, and I will testify unto thee,
O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto Me!
9 There shall be no strange god among thee;
neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

11 "But My people would not hearken to My voice,
and Israel would have none of Me.
12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust,
and they walked in their own counsels.
13 Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me,
and Israel had walked in My ways!
14 I should soon have subdued their enemies,
and turned My hand against their adversaries."

15 The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto Him,
but their time should have endured for ever.
16 He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat,
and, "With honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee."

Words of Worship - 1 Peter 1:25

,,,but the Word of the Lord endureth for ever."

And this is the Word which by the Gospel is preached unto you.

Matthew 13:54-58

54 And when He had come into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished and said, "From whence hath this man this wisdom and these mighty works? 55 Is not this the carpenter's son? Is not his mother called Mary and his brethren James and Joseph, and Simon and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? From whence then hath this man all these things?" 57 And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said unto them,

"A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country and in his own house." 58 And He did not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 30:24

Envy and wrath shorten the life, and anxiousness bringeth age before the time.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 6:34

 "Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
