The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Isaiah 66:5-16
5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye
that tremble at His word: "Your brethren
that hated you,
that cast you out for My name's sake, said,
'Let the LORD be glorified, when He shall appear
to your joy';
and they shall be ashamed."
6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from
the temple,
a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompense to
His enemies.
7 "Before she travailed, she
brought forth;
before her pain came, she was delivered of a
manchild.
8 Who hath heard such a thing?
Who hath seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one
day?
Or shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion travailed,
she brought forth her children.
9 Shall I bring to birth and not cease to bring
forth?" saith the LORD.
"Shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the
womb?" saith thy God.
10 "Rejoice ye with
Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love
her;
rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for
her;
11 that ye may suck, and be satisfied with the
breasts of her consolations;
that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the
abundance of her glory."
12 For thus saith the LORD,
"Behold, I will extend peace to her like a
river,
and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing
stream;
then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her
sides,
and be dandled upon her knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I
comfort you;
and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
14 And when ye see this, your
heart shall rejoice,
and your bones shall flourish like an herb;
and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward
His servants,
and His indignation toward His enemies.
15 For behold, the LORD will come with fire,
and with His chariots like a whirlwind,
to render His anger with fury
and His rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and by His sword will the LORD
plead with all flesh;
and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Psalm 66
1 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands!
2 Sing forth the honor of His name; make His praise glorious.
3 Say unto God, "How fearsome art Thou in Thy works!
Through the greatness of Thy power shall Thine enemies submit
themselves unto Thee.
4 All the earth shall worship Thee and shall sing unto Thee;
they shall sing to Thy name."
5 Come and see the works of God;
He is fearsome in His doings toward the children of men.
6 He turned the sea into dry land, they went through the flood on
foot;
there did we rejoice in Him.
7 He ruleth by His power for ever, His eyes behold the nations;
let not the rebellious exalt themselves.
8 O bless our God, ye people;
and make the voice of His praise to be heard,
9 who holdeth our soul in life
and alloweth not our feet to be moved.
10 For Thou, O God, hast tried us;
Thou hast tried us as silver is tried.
11 Thou broughtest us into the net;
Thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through water, but Thou broughtest us out
into a fruitful place.
13 I will go into Thy house with burnt offerings;
I will pay Thee my vows,14 which my lips have uttered and my mouth
hath spoken when I was in trouble.
15 I will offer unto Thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings
with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks and goats.
16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God,
and I will declare what He hath done for my soul.
17 I cried unto Him with my mouth,
and He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,
the Lord will not hear me.
19 But verily God hath heard me;
He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, who hath not turned away my
prayer,
nor His mercy from me!
Galatians 6:14-18
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord
Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision,
but a new creature. 16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on
them and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
17 From henceforth let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body
the marks of the Lord Jesus.
18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your
spirit.
Amen.
Words of Worship - Colossians 3:15a,
16a
And let the
peace of God rule in your hearts,
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,
Luke 10:1-20
1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them
two by two ahead of Him into every city and place whither He Himself would come.
2 Therefore He said unto them,
"The harvest truly is great, but the
laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would
send forth laborers into His harvest. 3 Go your ways; behold, I send you forth
as lambs among wolves, 4 carrying neither purse, nor pack, nor shoes; and
salute no man by the way. 5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say,
`Peace be to this house.' 6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall
rest upon it; if not, it shall return to you again. 7 And in the same house
remain, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is
worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8 And into whatsoever city ye
enter and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9 And heal
the sick that are therein and say unto them, `The Kingdom of God is come nigh
unto you.' 10 But into whatsoever city ye enter and they receive you not, go
your ways out into the streets of the same and say, 11 `Even the very dust of
your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you. Notwithstanding,
be ye sure of this: that the Kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.' 12 But I
say unto you that it shall be more tolerable in that Day for Sodom than for
that city. 13 "Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if
the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you,
they would have a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14
But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the Judgment than for
you. 15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shall be thrust down
to hell. 16 He that heareth you heareth Me, and he that despiseth you
despiseth Me, and he that despiseth Me despiseth Him that sent Me."
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, "Lord, even the
devils are subject unto us through Thy name." 18 And He said unto them,
"I beheld Satan as lightning fall from
heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions
and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you;
but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven."
Words of Wisdom - Ezekiel 45:9
"'Thus saith the Lord GOD: Let it suffice you, O princes of Israel.
Remove violence and spoil, and execute judgment and justice. Take away your
exactions from My people, saith the Lord GOD.

"Think not that I am
come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I am not come to destroy,
but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth
pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any wise pass from the
law till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of
these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called
the least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach
them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
