The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Amos 9:7-15

7 "Are ye not as children of the Ethiopians unto Me, O children of Israel?" saith the LORD.
"Have not I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt?
And the Philistines from Caphtor,
and the Syrians from Kir?
8 Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom,
and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth, except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob," saith the LORD.
9 "For lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, as corn is sifted in a sieve;
yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth.
10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, who say,
`The evil shall not overtake nor come before us.'

11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen,
and close up the breaches thereof;
and I will raise up his ruins,
and I will build it as in the days of old,
12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom,
and of all the heathen that are called by My name," saith the LORD that doeth this.

13 "Behold, the days come," saith the LORD,
"that the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed;
and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.
14 And I will bring back the captives of My people of Israel,
and they shall build the wasted cities, and inhabit them;
and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof;
they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
15 And I will plant them upon their land,
and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them," saith the LORD thy God.

Psalm 85

1 LORD, Thou hast been favorable unto Thy land;
Thou hast released the captives of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of Thy people;
Thou hast covered all their sin.

3 Thou hast taken away all Thy wrath;
Thou hast turned Thyself from the fierceness of Thine anger.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation,
and cause Thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt Thou be angry with us for ever?
Wilt Thou draw out Thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt Thou not revive us again,
that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?
7 Show us Thy mercy, O LORD,
and grant us Thy salvation.

8 I will hear what God the LORD will speak,
for He will speak peace unto His people and to His saints; but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely His salvation is nigh them that fear Him,
that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together;
righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good,
and our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before Him,
and shall set us in the way of His steps.

Words of Worship - John 10:27

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me.

Matthew 9:14-17

14 Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Thy disciples fast not?" 15 And Jesus said unto them,

"Can the attendants of the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

16 "No man putteth a piece of new cloth upon an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 17 Neither do men put new wine into old wineskins, else the wineskins burst and the wine runneth out and the skins perish. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved."

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 29:10

Lose thy money for thy brother and thy friend,
and let it not rust under a stone to be lost.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 7:1-2

"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
