The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Hosea 8
1 "Set the trumpet to thy mouth! He shall come as an
eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed
My covenant,
and trespassed against My law.
2 Israel shall cry unto Me,
'My God, we know Thee!'
3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good;
the enemy shall pursue him.
4 They have set up kings, but not by Me;
they have made princes, and I knew it not.
Of their silver and their gold have they made them idols,
that they may be cut off.
5 "Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; Mine anger is
kindled against them.
How long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
6 For from Israel was it also: the workman made it, therefore
it is not God;
but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
7 For they have sown the wind,
and they shall reap the whirlwind.
It hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal.
If so it shall yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
8 "Israel is swallowed up;
now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no
pleasure.
9 For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by
himself;
Ephraim hath hired lovers.
10 Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I
gather them,
and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of
princes.
11 "Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin,
altars shall be unto him to sin.
12 I have written to him the great things of My law,
but they were counted as a strange thing.
13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of Mine offerings,
and eat it;
but the LORD accepteth them not.
Now will He remember their iniquity and visit their sins;
they shall return to Egypt.
14 For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth
temples;
and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities.
But I will send a fire upon his cities,
and it shall devour the palaces thereof."
Psalm 115
1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto Thy name give
glory,
for Thy mercy and for Thy truth's sake.
2 Why should the heathen say,
"Where now is their God?"
3 But our God is in the heavens;
He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased.
4 Their idols are silver and gold,
the work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they speak not;
eyes have they, but they see not.
6 They have ears, but they hear not;
noses have they, but they smell not.
7 They have hands, but they handle not; feet have they, but they walk not;
neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them;
so is everyone that trusteth in them.
9 O Israel, trust thou in the LORD:
He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD:
He is their help and their shield.
11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD:
He is their help and their shield.
12 The LORD hath been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
14 The LORD shall increase you more and more,
you and your children.
15 Ye are blessed by the LORD
who made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's;
but the earth hath He given to the children of men.
17 The dead praise not the LORD,
neither do any that go down into silence.
18 But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.
Praise the LORD!
Words of Worship - John 10:14
I am the Good
Shepherd, and know My sheep and am known by Mine.
Matthew 9:23-38
23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house and saw the minstrels and the
people making a noise, 24 He said unto them,
"Give way, for the maid is not dead, but
sleepeth."
And they laughed Him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put outside, He
went in and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26 And the fame thereof
went abroad throughout all the land.
27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed Him, crying and
saying, "Thou Son of David, have mercy on us!" 28 And when He had come
into the house, the blind men came to Him, and Jesus said unto them,
"Believe ye that I am able to do
this?"
They said unto Him, "Yea, Lord." 29 Then He touched their eyes,
saying,
"According to your faith, be it unto
you."
30 And their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying,
"See that no man know it."
31 But they, when they had departed, spread abroad His fame in all that
country.
32 As they went out, behold, they brought to Him a man, dumb and possessed
with a devil. 33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spoke; and the
multitudes marveled, saying, "It was never so seen in Israel." 34 But
the Pharisees said, "He casteth out the devils through the prince of the
devils."
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their
synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every sickness
and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was
moved with compassion for them, because they were faint and were scattered
abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then said He unto His disciples,
"The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
laborers are few. 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will
send forth laborers into His harvest."
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.

"Ye have heard
that it hath been said, `Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy.' But I
say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them
that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you, that ye may be the children of your Father who is in Heaven. For He maketh
His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and
on the unjust.
