The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Genesis 3:9-15

9 And the LORD God called unto Adam and said unto him, "Where art thou?" 10 And he said, "I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself." 11 And He said, "Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?" 12 And the man said, "The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate." 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, "What is this that thou hast done?" And the woman said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I ate."

14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent,

"Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle,
and above every beast of the field.
Upon thy belly shalt thou go,
and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman,
and between thy seed and her Seed;
It shall bruise thy head,
and thou shalt bruise His heel."

Psalm 130

1 Out of the depths have I cried unto Thee, O LORD;
2 LORD, hear my voice! Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If Thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities,
O LORD, who shall stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with Thee,
that Thou mayest be feared.

5 I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait,
and in His word do I hope.
6 My soul waiteth for the LORD more than they that watch for the morning--
I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
7 Let Israel hope in the LORD, for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption.
8 And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

2 Corinthians 4:13-18

13 We, having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written: "I believed and therefore have I spoken" -- we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise us up also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that, through the thanksgiving of many, the abundant grace might redound to the glory of God.

16 For this cause we faint not, but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if our earthly house, this tabernacle, were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Words of Worship - John 12:31b-32

now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me."

Mark 3:22-27

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils." 23 And He called them unto Him, and said unto them in parables,

"How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house and despoil his goods, unless he will first bind the strong man; and then he will despoil his house.

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 10:28

And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear Him that is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
