2 Timothy 1:1-14

1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 

2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 

3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that I have thee in remembrance in my prayers night and day without ceasing. 4 I greatly desire to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy 5 when I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice and,I am persuaded, is in thee also. 6 Therefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God which is in thee through the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 

8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner; but be thou a partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel according to the power of God, 9 who hath saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but in accordance with His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death and hath brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. 11 For this I am appointed a preacher and an apostle and a teacher of the Gentiles, 12 for which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed. For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that Day. 

13 Hold fast to the form of sound words, which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee, keep, by the Holy Ghost who dwelleth in us.

Psalm 123

1 Unto Thee I lift up mine eyes, 
O Thou that dwellest in the heavens. 
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, 
and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress, 
so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God 
until He has mercy upon us. 
3 Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us, 
for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. 
4 Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, 
and with the contempt of the proud.

18 Then came unto Him the Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked Him, saying, 19 "Master, Moses wrote unto us that if a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, then his brother should take his wife and raise up seed unto his brother. 20 Now there were seven brethren; and the first took a wife, and dying, left no seed. 21 And the second took her and died, neither leaving any seed. And the third likewise. 22 So the seven had her and left no seed. Last of all the woman died also. 23 In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be, for all seven had her for a wife?" 24 And Jesus answering, said unto them,

"Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God? 25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels who are in Heaven. 26 And concerning the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, `I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? 27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. Ye therefore do greatly err."
