The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Zechariah 12:8-11

8 "In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David, and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them. 9 And it shall come to pass in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11 "In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the Valley of Megiddo.

Zechariah 13:1-2

1 "In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness. 2 And it shall come to pass in that day," saith the LORD of hosts, "that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

Psalm 63

1 O God, Thou art my God;
early will I seek Thee.
My soul thirsteth for Thee,
my flesh longeth for Thee, in a dry and thirsty land where no water is,
2 to see Thy power and Thy glory as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because Thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee.
4 Thus will I bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness
and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips,
6 when I remember Thee upon my bed,
and meditate on Thee in the night watches.
7 Because Thou hast been my help,
therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after Thee;
Thy right hand upholdeth me.

9 But those that seek my soul to destroy it shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10 They shall fall by the sword; they shall be a portion for foxes.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory,
but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.

Galatians 3:26-29

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ, have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise.

Words of Worship - John 10:27

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me.

Luke 9:18-27

18 And it came to pass as He was alone praying, His disciples were with Him, and He asked them, saying,

"Who say the people that I am?"

19 They answering said, "John the Baptist; but some say Elijah, and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again." 20 He said to them,

"But who say ye that I am?"

Peter answering said, "The Christ of God!" 21 And He strictly charged them and commanded them to tell no man this thing, 22 saying,

"The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes, and be slain and be raised the third day."

23 And He said to them all,

"If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for My sake, the same shall save it. 25 For what is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world, and lose himself or be cast away? 26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of him shall the Son of Man be ashamed when He shall come in His own glory and in His Father's and of the holy angels. 27 But I tell you in truth, there are some standing here that shall not taste of death till they see the Kingdom of God."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 20:22

Say thou not, "I will recompense evil";
but wait on the LORD, and He shall save thee.

John 8:1-11

Jesus went unto the Mount of Olives. And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came unto Him; and He sat down and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst, they said unto Him, "Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us that such should be stoned but what sayest thou?" This they said testing Him, that they might have cause to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted Himself up and said unto them,

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."

And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground. And they who heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even unto the last, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted Himself up and saw none but the woman, He said unto her,

"Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?"

She said, "No man, Lord." And Jesus said unto her,

"Neither do I condemn thee; go, and sin no more."
