The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Genesis 14:18-20

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he was the priest of the Most High God. 19 And he blessed him and said,

"Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth;
20 and blessed be the Most High God, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand."

And he gave him tithes of all.

Psalm 110

1 The LORD said unto my Lord,
"Sit Thou at My right hand, until I make Thine enemies Thy footstool."
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Thy strength out of Zion.
Rule Thou in the midst of Thine enemies!

3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power;
in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, Thou hast the dew of Thy youth.

4 The LORD hath sworn and will not repent:
"Thou art a priest for ever, after the order of Melchizedek."
5 The Lord at Thy right hand
shall strike through kings in the day of His wrath.
6 He shall judge among the heathen, He shall fill the places with dead bodies,
He shall wound the heads over many countries.
7 He shall drink of the brook on the way;
therefore shall He lift up the head.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26

23 For I have received from the Lord that which also I delivered unto you: that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of Me." 25 In the same manner also He took the cup when He had supped, saying, "This cup is the new testament in My blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me." 26 For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death until He come.

Words of Worship - John 6:51

I am the living Bread which came down from Heaven. If any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever; and the Bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."

Luke 9:10-17

10 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. And He took them and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 And the people, when they learned of it, followed Him. And He received them and spoke unto them of the Kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing.

12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve and said unto Him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about and lodge and get victuals, for we are here in a desert place. 13 But He said unto them,

"Give ye them to eat."

And they said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fishes, unless we should go and buy meat for all these people." 14 For they were about five thousand men. And He said to His disciples,

"Make them sit down by fifties in a company."

15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 Then He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to Heaven, He blessed them and broke, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 And they ate and were all filled, and there were taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 23:7

Hear, O ye children, the discipline of the mouth:
he that keepeth it shall never be taken by his lips.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Luke 15:8-10

"Or what woman, having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle and sweep the house and seek diligently until she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbors together, saying, `Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost!' Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."
