The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Genesis 17:1-16

1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram and said unto him, "I am the Almighty God. Walk before Me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make My covenant between Me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly." 3 And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying, 4 "As for Me, behold, My covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. 5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. 6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. 7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. 8 And I will give unto thee and to thy seed after thee the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

9 And God said unto Abraham, "Thou shalt keep My covenant, therefore, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations. 10 This is My covenant which ye shall keep between Me and you and thy seed after thee: every manchild among you shall be circumcised. 11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant between Me and you. 12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every manchild in your generations, he that is born in the house or bought with money from any stranger who is not of thy seed. 13 He that is born in thy house and he that is bought with thy money must be circumcised; and My covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.14 And the uncircumcised manchild whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken My covenant."

15 And God said unto Abraham, "As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.16 And I will bless her and give thee a son also by her. Yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her."

Psalm 128

1 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD,
that walketh in His ways.
2 For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands;
happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house, thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
4 Behold that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.

5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion,
and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children,
and peace upon Israel.

Words of Worship - Matthew 8:17b

"He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."

Matthew 8:1-4

1 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, there came a leper and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean." 3 And Jesus put forth His hand and touched him, saying,

"I will: be thou clean."

And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said unto him,

"See thou tell no man; but go thy way, show thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them."

Words of Wisdom - Jeremiah 3:22

"Return, ye backsliding children,
and I will heal your backslidings."

"Behold, we come unto Thee, for Thou art the LORD our God.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 5:43-45

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, `Thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy.' But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them that despitefully use you and persecute you, that ye may be the children of your Father who is in Heaven. For He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
