The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
2 Timothy 2:8-15
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised
from the dead according to my Gospel, 9 wherein I suffer trouble as
an evildoer, even unto bonds. But the Word of God is not bound. 10 Therefore
I endure all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the
salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. 11 It is a
faithful saying: For if we be dead with Him, we shall also live with
Him; 12 if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him,
He also will deny us; 13 if we believe not, yet He abideth
faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before
the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit but to the
subverting of the hearers. 15 Study to show thyself approved unto
God, a workman who needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word
of truth.
Psalm 25
1 Unto Thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul;
2 O my God, I trust in Thee.
Let me not be ashamed;
let not mine enemies triumph over me.
3 Yea, let none that wait on Thee be ashamed;
let them be ashamed that transgress without cause.
4 Show me Thy ways, O LORD;
teach me Thy paths.
5 Lead me in Thy truth and teach me,
for Thou art the God of my salvation;
on Thee do I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O LORD, Thy tender mercies and Thy
lovingkindnesses;
for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
according to Thy mercy remember Thou me,
for Thy goodness' sake, O LORD.
8 Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore will He teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will He guide in judgment,
and the meek will He teach His way.
10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth,
unto them that keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 For Thy name's sake, O LORD,
pardon mine iniquity, for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the LORD?
Him shall He teach in the way that He shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease,
and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him,
and He will show them His covenant.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD,
for He shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn Thee unto me and have mercy upon me,
for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
O bring Thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies, for they are many;
they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul and deliver me;
let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in Thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for I wait on Thee.
22 Redeem Israel, O God,
out of all his troubles!
Words of Worship - 2 Timothy 1:10b
our Savior Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death and
hath brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.
Mark 12:28-34
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and
perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first
commandment of all?" 29 And Jesus answered him,
"The first of all the commandments is: `Hear,
O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord. 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy
God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with
all thy strength;' this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like,
namely this: `Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.' There is no other
commandment greater than these."
32 And the scribe said unto Him, "Well, Master, thou hast said the
truth, for there is one God, and there is none other than He. 33 And to love Him
with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all
the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is more than all whole burnt
offerings and sacrifices." 34 And when Jesus saw that he answered
discreetly, He said unto him,
"Thou art not far from the Kingdom of
God."
And no man after that dared ask Him any question.
Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 22:23
Be faithful to thy neighbor in his poverty,
that thou mayest rejoice in his prosperity.
Abide steadfast unto him in the time of his trouble,
that thou mayest be heir with him in his heritage;
for a mean estate is not always to be contemned,
nor the rich that is foolish to be held in admiration.

he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be My
