The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Hosea 11:1-9

1 "When Israel was a child, then I loved him,
and called My son out of Egypt.
2 As they called them, so they went from them;
they sacrificed unto the Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
3 I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms;
but they knew not that I healed them.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love;
and I was to them as they that take off the yoke from their jaws, and I laid meat before them.

5 "He shall not return into the land of Egypt;
but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
6 And the sword shall abide on his cities,
and shall consume his branches and devour them, because of their own counsels.
7 And My people are bent on backsliding from Me;
though they called them to the Most High, none at all would exalt Him.

8 "How shall I give thee up, Ephraim?
How shall I deliver thee, Israel? How shall I make thee as Admah?
How shall I set thee as Zeboiim?
Mine heart is turned within Me;
My repentings are kindled together.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of Mine anger,
I will not return to destroy Ephraim;
for I am God, and not man, the Holy One in the midst of thee;
and I will not enter into the city.

Isaiah 12

1 And in that day thou shalt say: "O LORD, I will praise Thee;
though Thou wast angry with me, Thine anger is turned away, and Thou comforted me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid;
for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song;
He also has become my salvation."

3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation;
4 and in that day shall ye say:
"Praise the LORD!
Call upon His name!
Declare His doings among the people;
make mention that His name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD, for He hath done excellent things;
this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion!
For great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee."

Ephesians 3:1-21

1 For this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles-- 2 if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me toward you, 3 how by revelation He made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote before in a few words, 4 whereby when ye read this, ye may understand my knowledge of the mystery of Christ), 5 which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: 6 that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the Gospel, 7 for which I was made a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of His power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ, 10 with the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known through the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He hath purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of Him. 13 Therefore, I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which are your glory.

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in Heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height, 19 and to know the love of Christ, which surpasseth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

20 Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

Words of Worship - 1 John 4:10

Herein is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

John 19:31-37

31 The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparation, and so that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day (for that Sabbath day was a high day), besought Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away. 32 Then came the soldiers and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was dead already, they broke not His legs, 34 but one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith there came out blood and water. 35 And he that saw it bore record, and his record is true, and he knoweth that he saith truly, that ye might believe. 36 For these things were done, that the Scripture should be fulfilled:

"A bone of Him shall not be broken."

37 And again another Scripture saith,

"They shall look on Him whom they pierced."

Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 20:20

Whoso curseth his father or his mother,
his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

Jesus Speaks Morals & Values - Matthew 5:27-28

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old, `Thou shalt not commit adultery.' But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
