Hosea 6:1-6

1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD; for He hath torn, and He will heal us;
He hath smitten, and He will bind us up.
2 After two days will He revive us;
on the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD;
His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

4 "O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee?
O Judah, what shall I do unto thee?
For your goodness is as a morning cloud,
and as the early dew it goeth away.
5 Therefore have I hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth;
and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice;
and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Psalm 51:1-17

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness;
according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned and done this evil in Thy sight,
that Thou mightest be justified when Thou speakest, and be clear when Thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shaped in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in my inward parts;
in the hidden part Thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness,
that the bones which Thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Thy face from my sins,
and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from Thy presence,
and take not Thy holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation,
and uphold me with Thy free Spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways,
and sinners shall be converted unto Thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation,
and my tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open Thou my lips,
and my mouth shall show forth Thy praise.
16 For Thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it;
Thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, `God, I thank Thee that I am not as other men are: extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week; I give tithes of all that I possess.' 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, `God, be merciful to me a sinner!' 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other; for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
