from the The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons Jeremiah 11:14-20 14 "Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto Me for their trouble. 15 What hath My beloved to do in Mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? When thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest. 16 The LORD called thy name, `A Green Olive Tree,' fair and of goodly fruit. With the noise of a great tumult He hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken. 17 For the LORD of hosts, who planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke Me to anger in offering incense unto Baal." 18 And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it; then Thou showed me their doings. 19 But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered." 20 But, O LORD of hosts, who judgest righteously, who triest the reins and the heart, let me see Thy vengeance on them, for unto Thee have I revealed my cause. Words of Worship - Luke 8:15
John 7:37-53 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying,
39 (But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believe in Him should receive; for the Holy Ghost was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.) 40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, "In truth this is the Prophet." 41 Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Shall Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Hath not the Scripture said that Christ cometh out of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem where David was?" 43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 And some of them would have taken Him, but no man laid hands on Him. 45 Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said unto them, "Why have ye not brought him?" 46 The officers answered, "Never did man speak like this man!" 47 Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are ye also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this people, who knoweth not the law, are cursed." 50 Nicodemus said unto them (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them), 51 "Doth our law judge any man before it hear him and know what he doeth?" 52 They answered and said unto him, "Art thou also from Galilee? Search and look, for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet." 53 And every man went unto his own house. Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 12:8
