The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Jeremiah 20:10-13
10 For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side.
"Report," say they, "and we will report it!"
All in my company watched for my halting, saying, "Perhaps he will be
enticed, and we shall prevail against him;
and we shall take our revenge on him."
11 But the LORD is with me as a mighty, fearsome one;
therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail.
They shall be greatly ashamed, for they shall not prosper;
their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 But, O LORD of hosts, who triest the righteous and seest the reins
and the heart,
let me see Thy vengeance on them, for unto Thee have I opened my
cause.
13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD;
for He hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
Psalm 18:1-15
1 I will love Thee, O LORD, my strength.
2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The sorrows of death encompassed me,
and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about;
the snares of death lay before me.
6 In my distress I called upon the LORD
and cried unto my God;
He heard my voice out of His temple,
and my cry came before Him, even unto His ears.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled;
the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because He
was wroth.
8 There went up smoke out of His nostrils, and a devouring fire out of
His mouth;
coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also and came down;
and darkness was under His feet.
10 And He rode upon a cherub and flew;
yea, He flew upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness His secret place;
His pavilion round about Him was dark waters and thick clouds of the
skies.
12 At the brightness that was before Him, His thick clouds passed,
hail stones and coals of fire.
13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens,
and the Highest uttered His voice with hail stones and coals of fire.
14 Yea, He sent out His arrows and scattered them;
and He shot out lightnings and discomfited them.
15 Then the channels of the waters were seen, and the foundations of
the world were uncovered
at Thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of Thy nostrils.
Words of Worship - John 6:63c, 68c
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they
are life.
Thou hast the words of eternal life,
John 10:31-42
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32
Jesus answered them,
"Many good works
have I shown you from My Father. For which of those works do ye stone
Me?"
33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work
we stone thee not, but for blasphemy and because thou, being a man,
makest thyself God." 34 Jesus answered them,
"Is it not written
in your law, `I said "Ye are gods"'? 35 If He called them
gods unto whom the Word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be
broken), 36 do ye say of Him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent
into the world, `Thou blasphemest,' because I said, `I am the Son of
God'? 37 If I do not the works of My Father, believe Me not. 38 But if
I do, though ye believe not Me, believe the works, that ye may know
and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."
39 Therefore they sought again to take Him, but He
escaped out of their hand, 40 and went away again beyond the Jordan into
the place where John had first baptized; and there He abode. 41 And many
resorted unto Him and said that John did no miracle, but all things that
John spoke of this Man were true. 42 And many believed in Him there.
Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 13:14
Love the Lord all thy life,
and call upon Him for thy salvation.

"To what shall we liken the Kingdom of God?
Or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard
seed which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that are
in the earth. But when it is sown, it groweth up and becometh greater than
all herbs, and shooteth out great branches, so that the fowls of the air may
lodge under the shadow of it."
