from the The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons James 3:13-18 13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show his works out of good conduct and with the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 Such wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. 16 For where envy and strife are, there is confusion and every evil work. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of those who make peace. And he said, "From childhood. 22 And oftentimes it hath cast him into the fire and into the waters to destroy him; but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us and help us." 23 Jesus said unto him,
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help Thou mine unbelief!" 25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him,
26 And the spirit cried, and rent the boy sorely and came out of him; and he was as one dead, insomuch that many said, "He is dead." 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, "Why could not we cast him out?" 29 And He said unto them,
