The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

1 Peter 1:10-16

10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, and have prophesied of the grace that should come unto you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them had signified when He testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow. 12 Unto them it was revealed that they ministered, not unto themselves, but unto us the things which are now reported unto you by those who have preached the Gospel unto you, with the Holy Ghost sent down from Heaven -- things which the angels desire to look into.

13 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind; be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not fashion yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance, 15 but as He who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of living, 16 because it is written: "Be ye holy, for I am holy."

Psalm 98

1 O sing unto the LORD a new song, for He hath done marvelous things!
His right hand and His holy arm hath gotten Him the victory.
2 The LORD hath made known His salvation;
His righteousness hath He openly shown in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered His mercy and His truth toward the house of Israel;
all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth!
Make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise!
5 Sing unto the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and the voice of a psalm.
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet
make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King!

7 Let the sea roar and the fullness thereof,
the world and they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands,
let the hills be joyful together 9 before the LORD.
For He cometh to judge the earth;
with righteousness shall He judge the world, and the people with equity.

Words of Worship - Matthew 11:25

"I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Mark 10:28-34

28 Then Peter began to say unto Him, "Lo, we have left all and have followed Thee." 29 And Jesus answered and said,

"Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for My sake and the Gospel's, 30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brethren and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternal life. 31 But many that are first shall be last, and the last first."

32 And they were on the way going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus went before them; and they were amazed, and as they followed, they were afraid. And He took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things would happen unto Him, 33 saying,

"Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles. 34 And they shall mock Him and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him and shall kill Him. And the third day He shall rise again."

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 22:15

Sand and salt and a mass of iron is easier to bear
than a man without understanding.
