The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Acts 1:12-14
12 Then they returned unto Jerusalem from the mount called
Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a Sabbath day's journey. 13 And when they had
come in, they went up in to an upper room where abode both Peter and James, and
John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of
Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the brother of James. 14 These all
continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary
the mother of Jesus, and with His brethren.
Psalm 27
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to
eat up my flesh,
they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army should encamp against me,
my heart shall not fear;
though war should rise against me,
even in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD;
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion;
in the secret places of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall
set me upon a rock.
6 And then shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round
about me;
therefore I will offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing,
yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.
7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me and answer me.
8 When Thou saidst, "Seek ye My face,"
my heart said unto Thee, "Thy face, LORD, will I seek."
9 Hide not Thy face far from me;
put not Thy servant away in anger.
Thou hast been my help; leave me not,
neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
then the LORD will take me up.
11 Teach me Thy way, O LORD,
and lead me in a level path because of mine enemies.
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies;
for false witnesses have risen up against me,
and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I would have fainted,
unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in
the land of the living.
14 Wait on the LORD;
be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart.
Wait, I say, on the LORD!
1 Peter 4:13-16
13 but rejoice inasmuch as ye are
partakers of Christ's sufferings, that, when His glory
shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding
joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy
are ye, for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon
you. On their part evil is spoken of Him, but on your
part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a
murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a
busybody in other men's matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer
as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him
glorify God on this account.
Words of Worship - John
14:18
"I will not leave you
comfortless; I will come to you.
John 17:1-12
1 These words spoke Jesus and lifted up His eyes to
Heaven and said,
"Father, the hour
is come. Glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee, 2 as
Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal
life to as many as Thou hast given Him. 3 And this is life eternal:
that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom
Thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified Thee on the earth; I have finished
the work which Thou gavest Me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify Thou
Me with Thine own Self with the glory which I had with Thee before the
world was.
6 "I have
manifested Thy name unto the men whom Thou gavest Me out of the world.
Thine they were, and Thou gavest them to Me, and they have kept Thy
Word. 7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever Thou hast given
Me are of Thee. 8 For I have given unto them the Words which Thou
gavest Me; and they have received them and have known surely that I
came out from Thee, and they have believed that Thou didst send Me. 9
I pray for them; I pray not for the world, but for them whom Thou hast
given Me, for they are Thine. 10 And all Mine are Thine, and Thine are
Mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And now I am no more in the
world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father,
keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they
may be one, as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept
them in Thy name. Those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of
them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be
fulfilled.
Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiasticus 9:12
Delight not in the thing that the ungodly have pleasure in,
but remember they shall not go unpunished unto their grave.

"Woe unto you also, ye
lawyers! For ye laden men with burdens grievous
to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of
your fingers.
Woe unto you! For ye build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your
fathers
killed them. Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your
fathers; for
they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchers.
