The Lectionary
According to the Christian Seasons
Acts 19:1-8
1 And it came to pass that while Apollos
was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to
Ephesus; and finding certain disciples, 2 he said unto them, "Have
ye received the Holy Ghost, having believed?" And they said unto
him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is any Holy
Ghost." 3 And he said unto them, "Unto what then were ye
baptized?" And they said, "Unto John's baptism." 4 Then
said Paul, "John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance,
saying unto the people that they should believe in Him who should come
after him, that is, in Christ Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they
were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid
his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came upon them, and they spoke with
tongues and prophesied. 7 And there were about twelve men in all.
8 And he went into the synagogue and
spoke boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading
about the things concerning the Kingdom of God.
Psalm 68:1-10
1 Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered;
let them also that hate Him flee before Him.
2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the
presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad, let them rejoice before God;
yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
4 Sing unto God, sing praises to His name!
Extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name Jehovah; and
rejoice before Him.
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows,
is God in His holy habitation.
6 God setteth the solitary in families, He bringeth out those who
are bound with chains;
but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
7 O God, when Thou wentest forth before Thy people,
when Thou didst march through the wilderness,
8 the earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God;
even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of
Israel.
9 Thou, O God, didst send a plentiful rain,
whereby Thou didst confirm Thine inheritance when it was weary.
10 Thy congregation hath dwelt therein;
Thou, O God, hast prepared of Thy goodness for the poor.
Words of Worship - Colossians
3:1
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where
Christ sitteth at the right hand of God.
John 16:25-33
25 "These things
have I spoken unto you in proverbs; but the time cometh when I shall
no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall show you plainly of
the Father. 26 In that day ye shall ask in My name, and I say not unto
you that I will pray the Father for you; 27 for the Father Himself
loveth you, because ye have loved Me and have believed that I came out
from God. 28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world.
Again, I leave the world and go to the Father."
29 His disciples said unto Him, "Lo, now speakest
Thou plainly and speakest no proverb. 30 Now are we sure that Thou
knowest all things and needest not that any man should ask Thee. By this
we believe that Thou camest forth from God." 31 Jesus answered
them,
"Do ye now believe?
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be
scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave Me alone. And yet I
am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have
spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall
have tribulation, but be of good cheer: I have overcome the
world."
Words of Wisdom - Proverbs 16:16
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold!
And to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver!

"Therefore also said the
wisdom of God: `I will send them prophets and
apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute,' that the
blood of all
the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may
be
required of this generation, from the blood of Abel unto the blood
of
Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the temple. Verily I
say unto
you, it shall be required of this generation.
