The Lectionary According to the Christian Seasons

Acts 20:28-38

28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God which He hath purchased with His own blood. 29 For I know this: that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember that for the space of three years I ceased not to warn everyone night and day with tears.

32 "And now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have coveted no man's silver or gold or apparel. 34 Yea, ye yourselves know that these hands have ministered unto my own necessities, and also to those who were with me. 35 I have shown you all things, how that by so laboring ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, `It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down and prayed with them all. 37 And they all wept sorely and fell on Paul's neck and kissed him, 38 sorrowing most of all because of the words which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

Psalm 68:21-35

21 But God shall wound the head of His enemies,
and the hairy scalp of such a one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
22 The Lord said, "I will bring again from Bashan;
I will bring My people again from the depths of the sea,
23 that thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies,
and the tongues of thy dogs in the same."
24 They have seen Thy goings, O God,
even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after;
among them were the damsels playing with timbrels:
26 "Bless ye God in the congregations,
even the Lord from the fountain of Israel."
27 There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council,
the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.

28 Thy God hath commanded thy strength;
strengthen, O God, that which Thou hast wrought for us.
29 Because of Thy temple at Jerusalem
shall kings bring presents unto Thee.
30 Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls with the calves of the people, until every one submit himself with pieces of silver;
scatter Thou the people that delight in war.
31 Princes shall come out of Egypt;
Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.

32 Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth!
O sing praises unto the Lord,
33 to Him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old;
lo, He doth send out His voice, and that a mighty voice.
34 Ascribe ye strength unto God;
His excellency is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds.
35 O God, Thou art fearsome out of Thy holy places;
the God of Israel is He that giveth strength and power unto His people. Blessed be God!

Words of Worship - John 17:17

Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth.

John 17:11b-19

11b Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are. 12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Thy name. Those that Thou gavest Me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. 13 "And now come I to Thee, and these things I speak in the world, that they might have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Thy Word, and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that Thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that Thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth. 18 As Thou hast sent Me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

Words of Wisdom - Ecclesiastes 9:13-15

This wisdom have I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me: There was a little city and few men within it. And there came a great king against it, and besieged it and built great bulwarks against it. Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.

"Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is
nothing covered that shall not be revealed, neither hid that shall not be known.
Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light;
and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon
the housetops.
